Designing Motherhood features over 200 objects reflecting upon the history of reproduction, from contraception to conception to postpartum. A winding ‘umbilical table’ organizes this eclectic but powerful content into different stages of pregnancy, helping to guide the visitor throughout the space.

Elias Kahn is a designer and artist based in Seattle, Washington.

Since graduating from the University of Washington’s Visual Communication Design program in 2020, he has worked as a designer at Studio Matthews, a multidisciplinary studio with a focus on environmental graphic design and wayfinding.

Eli imbues empathy and function into his creative output, navigating between the digital and the tangible. His interests lie in exploring unique modes of visual communication, designed experiences, and finding opportunities for technology and art to coincide.
