"Give Me a Sign: The Language of Symbols" is an exhibition that delves into the profound impact of the 1972 Symbol Sourcebook by Henry Dreyfuss, the industrial designer. The purpose of the Sourcebook was to compile a universally-recognized collection of symbols through crowd-sourcing. To complement the Sourcebook's gridded layouts and the Cooper Hewitt's historic architecture, a freestanding modular framework was employed to organize content. This grid allows for the placement of panels at various positions along the z-axis, creating an adaptable graphic display.

Through close collaboration with the curatorial team at Cooper Hewitt, we created an engaging in-person experience that brings the Symbol Sourcebook's content to life. The exhibition encourages audience participation, as visitors are invited to contribute their own symbols, effectively co-creating a contemporary Symbol Sourcebook for the year 2024.
